20TH MAY 2011 Om Sairam dearest Sai Family, Last night (19th May 2011), there was heavy thunder storm after which it rained heavily in Puttaparthi resulting in partial collapse of the most famous Kalpa vriksham (wish fulfilling tree as it is commonly called). This tamarind tree was a historic one. According to the legend, Swami as a small boy, used to take some of His close friends and classmates to the tree which is on a hill top at the end of Chitravathi road. There Swami used to ask His friends to think of any fruit or object and He used to pluck the same from that tamarind tree. There were many instances when He plucked apples, mangoes etc during unseason times that too from a tamarind tree. He even gave laddu and other sweets from that tree.This tree later on was called as Kalpavriksham, the tree which will fulfill your wishes.
