Date: Saturday, August 04, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY When the anguish of a devotee's heart is expressed as a cry, a groan or a sigh, the Lord rushes to the rescue; the lord is only as far as that sound of despair can reach. He is always on the alert to listen to the cry and call of His children. His residence is within the hearing distance of every cry, from every grief stricken heart. Remember, the Lord is devoid of attachment and hatred. It is His nature to support, nurture and protect the right and admonish the wrong. He is ever focussed, to restore to human beings the vision to turn their footsteps along the path of morality and self-control, so they may attain Self-knowledge. Yesterday's thought Date: Friday, August 03, 2012 The human heart when young is very soft. It responds to grief and pain in fellow beings. It is the example of elders, the lessons they receive from parents, the company they get into, and the wrong training they receive in school and society that harden their hearts into stone. Parents must not find fault with others in the vicinity of children or show their hatred or envy before their tender minds. Children should be taught to share the grief and joy of others; and to be never jealous of others happiness or success. Instead of giving room to the feeling of envy, teach them to emulate the hard work of the successful, to pray for intelligence, or for a sharper memory. Keep those young hearts soft. |

04-08-2012 - THOUGHT FOR THE DAY AS WRITTEN AT PRASANTHI NILAYAM TODAY
Anonymous Sai Devotee - Devotees Experiences with Sai Baba
Sai Ram
I would like to share one of my experiences that happened to me on 30th August. I am a Sai devotee. (Kindly keep my id Anonymous)
I believe in Baba . I pray to him. I trust him.
I was travelling in my school bus with students. I, being in a slightly authoritative post asked the driver
to take an alternative route rather than the regular route. There is a railway over bridge with high bars barricade.
He asked me whether the bus can go under that and I replied to it as yes.
We went through this route and the bus passed under the bridge safely but the top hit the first barricade.
Instead of stopping there itself the driver took the bus further and the vehicle got completely stuck midway.
There was no way to go further or backward. I being the one to suggest the route was shocked at this outcome.
The staff and students were terrified. I got down to see the situation with just one word on my lips 'Sai Ram'.
This was continuously being uttered by me. There was open land and small hills and a few huts a little away.
Meanwhile a small crowd gathered around giving all kinds of suggestions and scolding us for coming that way.
Suddenly a man of around 30 years came there and he got on to the top of the bus saw the situation and literally took control over the situation. he asked us all to move to the rear end of the bus so that the bus can bend down, he got down and reduced the air in the back tyres and ordered the driver to go ahead. Imagine, it suddenly became so easy.
The bus came off smmothly. I was in a kind of shock and yet sure swami will help us all out. By the time I gathered senses and looked around, the man was gone - either walked off or just disappeared. I could not even thank him enough.
It was surely a miracle for me. I still cannot imagine it all happened this way. If not Sai, who else could come like that from nowhere. There were staff and innocent kids in the bus and the Omnipresent Sai knows it all.
Sai Koti koti pranam at your lotus feet. Oh saviour bless us and protect us. Hope you will clear the other obstacles in my life too in the same miraculous way.
I am still shaken up with the experience then I thought this is the right platform to share my feelings.
Jai sai ram.

Yesterday's thought Date: Thursday, August 02, 2012 Steady practice will ensure you both results - freedom from sin and liberation. Never underestimate the importance and power of practice! You would have known examples of how practice makes even an animal execute difficult tasks – for example, look at the horses yoked to the carts, elephants on the battlefield! Those elephants have rendered assistance in battle which even man with the superior equipment of reason cannot do! Consider how this was made possible for docile elephants living in forests as herds? Fighting on the battlefield is not their nature. These are ample proof of the value of practice. Draw strength and confidence in the value of practice. Practice the withdrawal of the mind from the senses; it will slowly and steadily develop the skills which will release you from bondage. |

Yesterday's thought Date: Wednesday, August 01, 2012 The character of children must be made strong and pure. Give them all the confidence and courage they need, to become good, honest and self-reliant. It is not enough if they learn to make a living - the manner of living is more important than the standard of living. Children must also be taught to have reverence towards their religion, culture and to educational attainments. Children must learn well their mother tongue, so they can appreciate the great poetical works and epics written by the seers of their land. These will give them valuable guidance during the stormy days of their life. Above all, they must develop a deep reverence for their motherland. |

Date: Tuesday, July 31, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY People are eager to get happiness and when there is a prospect of earning undiminishing happiness, many people jump at the idea. But soon they are tired of the effort required, and seek shortcuts. Sometimes they lean on others to carry their weight and aspire for much fruit in return for very little cultivation. Some efforts here and there, such as listening to discourses or making speeches will not be sufficient. Rigorous discipline and steady faith are absolutely necessary for success in the spiritual journey. You must control your senses, which drag your mind towards the attractions of the external world. To have steady faith, one must control the wayward mind that paints attractive pictures in false colours to lure you on from birth to birth. Yesterday's thought Date: Monday, July 30, 2012 What is needed is control of the senses, not their destruction. To control means, to keep under one's behest; obedient to one's will. And destruction means denial of activity, complete inaction. One must keep all senses under control and use them only when the purposes for which they have been devised are to be fulfilled. In your home, you decide and carefully watch who are the right people to walk through the door. Those who must enter by one door should not use some other door. If they do, then that house will have only confusion and disorder. It is wiser to take precautions against such disorder before they enter, rather than deal with the intruders after they have come in. You may excuse the trespass for the first time. But certainly, you must take enough care to see that it is not repeated. That is the better method, though not the best. |

Date: Sunday, July 29, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY When you achieve Chitha Shuddhi (purity of mind), Truth will be clearly reflected therein. For this, good company is essential. Company of pious and holy people leads gradually to withdrawal from entangling activities. When a cold bit of coal is placed in the midst of glowing cinders, and when the fire is fanned, the coal too starts glowing with the fire. The Jnaana Agni or the Fire of Wisdom operates similarly. Individual effort and Divine Grace are both interdependent. Without effort, there will be no conferment of grace. To win that Grace, you only need to have faith and virtue. Knock - the doors of Grace will open. Open the door - the Sun's rays waiting outside will flow silently in and flood the room with light. Yesterday's thought Date: Saturday, July 28, 2012 Human beings are endowed with memory, as well as the faculty to forget. Both are useful skills. Perhaps, the power to forget is even more important – otherwise people will lament over the loss of millions of parents and kinsmen from previous births, and also the insults and injuries they suffered in this birth. Luckily the power to forget helps with all of these. People often remember only those things that have impressed them as ssboiAtmA15161516ignificant – their birthdays, wedding days, their debtors, etc. Tragedy is that people forget the most critical thing about their earthly career – the key to happiness and liberation. Man cannot afford to forget the questions - "Who am I? Where am I going? Where did I come from? What is the nature and purpose of all this?" wirwireles |
