Date: Saturday, July 14, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY What in reality is this body? It is but the Atma (soul) encased in five Koshas or sheaths – Annamaya (sheath composed of food), Pranamaya (sheath composed of vitality), Manomaya (one composed of thought), Vijnanamaya (sheath of intelligence), and Aanandamaya (sheath of bliss). By understanding this truth and contemplating over it, one attains discrimination to recede from these sheaths to the inner, more real core. Thus, step by step, a spiritual aspirant abandons one sheath after another and is able to dissolve away all of them, to achieve the knowledge of his unity with Brahmam (Divinity). Yesterday's thought Date: Friday, July 13, 2012 You fill your days with unremitting labour, immersed in perpetual anxiety and worry, you are busy beyond description, with no time to silently contemplate God's handiwork. You are troubled by strange inexplicable misgivings and run helter-skelter after hollow comforts, blinded by hate and greed. Caught in this toil and turmoil, you sometimes lose the knowledge of the anchor that will save you - disciplining of the mind. Start this spiritual discipline as early as possible in life, do not postpone it any further. For, no one knows when the span of life will be brought to a close. Reflect on it. Knock and the doors of Grace will open. Open the door, the Sun's rays waiting outside your door will flow silently in and flood your room with love and light. |

Yesterday's thought Date: Thursday, July 12, 2012 Some materialists argue that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. They say that the pleasure you have now should not be given up in the hope of something promised, if and when the pleasure you have is given up. But the happiness of renunciation can be enjoyed here and now, and is much more sustaining and inspiring than the happiness derived from grabbing and attachment. In addition, in being the master of your senses rather than being its slave, there is a certain joy. Discover the fountain of joy present within you. It is a never failing, ever full and ever cool fountain, for it arises from God. |

Yesterday's thought Date: Wednesday, July 11, 2012 Every being is a mixture of two strands - maya and Madhava (Illusion and Divinity); deha and Dehi (body and Indweller), jada and chith (inert matter and consciousness), and Jeeva and Brahman (Individual Soul and Supreme Soul). Both of these are in fact made of the same substance; they are like the two stones in a grinding mill, the Jeeva is the revolving one and the Brahman is the stable one on which the other is based. The Guru is the Teacher who removes the fundamental ignorance, which hides the knowledge of this truth from us. When you do not find a Guru, pray sincerely, the God inside you will Himself reveal the road and lead you on. |

Yesterday's thought Date: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 If your loyalty is towards your family, you are a servant of the family. If it is to God, you are a servant of God. But do not pay heed to the wages He gives. Do not argue and bargain for rewards. Only hired labourers clamour for wages and declare they are poor. Be a kinsman, a member of the family, a scion of God. Then, it behoves Him to maintain you in comfort. Try to live near God as His own kin. Do not calculate the number of hours you have spent in serving Him and lament that He has not compensated you enough. Be ever in joy, in His service, in doing good and being good. |

Region 4 adds colour to Prasanthi Twilight…Saturday, July 7th, 2012 In a dazzling display of devotion, dedication and rich cultural heritage, Region 4 of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – Worldwide comprising of countries, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore and Thailand presented a unique colourful evening today in Prasanthi Nilayam. The programme was organised on the sidelines of a three-day Sri Sathya Sai Spiritual Youth Retreat, concluded this afternoon. The main programme for the evening was 'Kecak', a traditional Balinese dance form from Indonesia that has been handed down from generations apart. Known as Bali's version of the epic Ramayana, 'Kecak' dance form is synonymous with the island's rich cultural and artistic heritage. This evening's presentation was based on Bhagawan's 'own' work, 'Ramakatha Rasa Vahini', and the episode depicted was the royal battle between Ravana's son Indrajith and Lakshmana, brother of Bhagawan Sri Ram. Donned in checked waist clothes and maroon full-sleeve shirts, men in large numbers circled around a pole of many lighted lamps, chorusing cak…cak…cak… that was superbly synchronized with their raising-hand-action with fingers gone fluttering. Synchronising these sequential actions, these men turned from one end to another, with typical hand movement, with perfect coordination presenting yet another art form at the Ultimate Altar of the Supreme Avatar. With this men in action, there arrived the protagonists one after one, Ravana, Lakshman and Lord Ram followed by His eternal devotee Hanuman. With men chanting cak…cak in vigorous action, the protagonists enacted the scenes, depicting Indrajith's vicious design to overthrow Lakshmana, how Lakshmana fell victim to his devilish plans, and how Lord Rama, with the 'aid' of His eternal devotee Hanuman, revived Lakshmana, etc. A dance followed, to the tune of a chorus song sung by women youth from the region, illustrating Hanuman's supreme devotion to Lord Ram and how he was a recipient of Lord Rama's eternal grace. Flag-march representing participating countries with a Hanuman Flag leading from the front followed, to the tunes of a soothing devotional melody before bhajans by students continued until Arathi at 1805 hrs. Earlier, the Youth in-charge for the region gave a brief introductory speech before the commencement of the programme. Talking about how to transform inspiration into action, the speaker commented about the Spiritual Retreat, service activities being sponsored and done by the Region etc. Clothes were presented to all participants and prasadam was distributed to the entire assembly. A group of devotees from Region 94, Middle East and Gulf, of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations – Worldwide is currently in Prasanthi Nilayam, on a Parthi Yatra. On the sidelines of the pilgrimage, a Balvikas Teacher's Training Camp is also being organised by the in Prasanthi Nilayam. II Samasta Lokah Sukhino Bhavantu II Gratitude Offering By Nursing Batch Of Students…Monday, July 9th, 2012 Offering gratitude to Beloved Bhagawan, passing out batch of B.Sc. Nursing students of College of Nursing, Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences, Whitefield, Bangalore presented a Musical Bouquet this evening at the Sanctum Sanctorum in Prasanthi Nilayam. Starting off in grand style, with a flashback, recollecting the golden memories of the inception of the course being announced by Bhagawan, on the occasion of Guru Purnima 2008, by way of an audio clip, the batch of 40 students continued the session singing seven meaningful songs that lasted for 45 minutes. Each of the seven songs was preceded by an intro followed by greetings offered at the Sanctum Sanctorum by different batches of students. Songs for the evening included DasanamAdi koyanna by Purandaradasa, O Paalan Hare…etc. College Of Nusring at SSSIHMS was instituted in the year 2008, and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. The first batch, of 40 students, was commenced on Sept 1, 2008. The college conducts 4-year Programme in Nursing and every batch is permitted an intake of 40 students. At the end of the programme all the passing out students were felicitated. Bhajans continued until Mangala Arathi offering at 1800 hrs. A visiting group of 220 devotees from Region 94, of Middle East and Gulf, would be presenting an Arabic Choir cum Bhajan Evening tomorrow, 10th July 2012 in Prasanthi Nilayam. Date: Tuesday, July 10, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY If your loyalty is towards your family, you are a servant of the family. If it is to God, you are a servant of God. But do not pay heed to the wages He gives. Do not argue and bargain for rewards. Only hired labourers clamour for wages and declare they are poor. Do not calculate the number of hours you have spent in serving Him and lament that He has not compensated you enough. Be ever in joy, in His service, in doing good and being good. Yesterday's thought Date: Monday, July 09, 2012 Aspirants, focus your yearning and efforts on the right goal - to be never born again. You may be born in a good family or in favourable circumstances; but subsequent Karma in this life, may not ensure a good death, one that will let you escape the cycle of birth and death. Every one born must have that end always in view. No tree will yield fruits the moment you plant the seedling in your backyard. To reach that stage, you have to foster it with care over a long period of time, is it not? Similarly whatever result you seek, you have to follow through carefully the preparatory disciplines, without any break. Cultivate good habits of thoughts and actions in order to make the end of your life genuinely auspicious. |
