Date: Monday, June 25, 2012 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY The tongue may utter the Name of the Lord, the ear may be open when the glory of God is recited and the hand may shower flowers on the image of God - all this is of no avail, if carried out mechanically, bereft of yearning within. Reading scriptures or performing worship without relishing the sweetness is equivalent to being like the spoon which dips into sour and sweet with equal alacrity and insensitivity. The spoon does not refuse or relish any taste. True joy can be felt only when the heart of the devotee is aware of the Supreme; when the mind is thrilled with the recollections of the glory of God or the study of the scriptures. - Sri Sathya Sai Baba   Yesterday's thought Date: Sunday, June 24, 2012   You must use your intelligence to discover what is best under the circumstances and in the situation, considering the status and the profession which you have won. The barber should not treat all things equal and use his razor to peel vegetables, cut pencils and paper, bamboos and beards alike. Each instrument has its own special use and purpose; every individual has some skills and responsibilities. The king should be treated as a king and the farmer as a farmer. But make sure your activities leave no scar on your faith in Unity. Though in principle all is Brahmam, in dealing with them in day-to-day activity, you cannot follow the non-dual approach. There should be Bhaava-adhwaitha, not Karma-adhwaitha, that is to say, the underlying faith should be in the Unity of all, though the outer activity may be different for varied entities. - Sri Sathya Sai Baba
