THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
By an inordinate attachment to the Seen, one becomes an alien to the realm of the Unseen. Know that the Unseen is the basis of the Seen. The Unseen gives stability and value to the Seen; the Unseen is the One that is true and valid. In spite of the warnings administered by countless saints through the centuries, people have forsaken the Unseen for the sake of Seen. The Unseen alone can confer contentment and courage to face fortune as well as misfortune. Ignoring the Unseen causes discontent and distress. To overcome this, develop devotion and you are free, for the Lord takes on the burden you carry.

Yesterday's thought

With a little reasoning you can know for yourself the path you need to take, thereafter, it can be trodden step by step until the goal is reached. Whatever be the path, retain this knowledge that attachment causes pain and detachment results in joy. But you cannot easily detach yourself from activity; the mind clings to something or other. Make it cling to God, let it do all things for God and leave the success or failure, the loss and the profit, the elation or the dejection, to God. Then you have the secret of peace and contentment. To get this attitude of surrender and dedication, you must have Faith in God. God, whose play this world is. This world is not an empty dream; it has a purpose and use. It is the means by which one can discover God. See Him in the beauty, the grandeur, the order and the majesty of Nature.

Vidya Vahini reaches new milestones…

If Vidya Vahini is Bhagawan's solution to the present times in the field of education, marred with erosion in values, the world can breathe a sigh of relief as the expanse of Vidya Vahini is ever expanding bringing in steady progress in the field, as was previsioned by Bhagawan.

This evening, marking the occasion of the dedication of the newly developed Web Application by the Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., three schools, under the Vidya Vahini scheme staged an hour-long cultural presentation, of twenty minutes apiece, at the Sanctum Sanctorum in Prasanthi Nilayam.

The first presentation was by the students from Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar, Visakhapatanam, which is in its 27th year of inception. The presentation exposes the flaws of modern day educational system, that is more quantitative than qualitative, that puts 'quantitative' pressure on the students to excel than instilling passion in them. Perfection comes with passion and not with pressure, declares the presentation depicting the story of girl by name Amrita, who was under severe pressure from her father for not scoring a near perfect 10, despite here excellent performance. The presentation ended with a wise and learned teacher, attending to the hapless girl, airing greater hopes bringing in Vidya Vahini as today's answer to devalued modern educational system.

Next to come was 'Kolattam', a folk-dance form from Andhra Pradesh offered by the student of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Vidyalayam, Nandigama, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. Dancing vibrantly to the tunes of a couple of popular Telugu devotionals, these students, in typical attire, with headband and anklets, enthralled the audience with their quick, quirky, rhythmic, synchronised movements graced with great team spirit.

The third and final presentation was a scintillating musical offering by a group of girl students from Sri Viswa Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vandalur, Tamil Nadu. Presenting rich talent, singing paeans to Bhagawan, this bunch of students incited round of applause from the audience, in appreciation of their graceful musical display.

Even as bhajans continued, each group posed for group photo session. All the participating children were felicitated with special gifts and prasadam was distributed to the entire assembly.
Mangala Arathi was offered at 1825 hrs.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
In the Geetha, Krishna said to Arjuna, "I am the witness; through Me, this conglomeration of the five elements called Universe, all these moveable and immoveable objects, are formed. Whatever the name or form worshiped, I am the Recipient; for I am the Goal of all. I am the only One. There is no Other. I Myself become the Worshipped, through My many Names and Forms. Not only this, I am the Fruit of all actions, the Bestower of the Fruit, and the Prompter. To realise Me is indeed liberation. He is the Jivanmuktha (liberated even while alive) who attains that realisation. Arjuna, if one yearns to become a Jivanmuktha, one has to eradicate fully the attachment to the body."

Yesterday's thought

To be born as a human being is a great piece of luck. For human beings alone can attain the status of the Divine by recognizing the reality of one's being. No beast or bird can reach that height of realization. It would be very tragic if instead of valuing the chance and utilizing it, it is frittered here and there and dies without realizing the inner light. You are born as a consequence of the activities you were engaged in, in your past births. Understand clearly that in spiritual matters, faith is the basic requisite for progress. Your faith must be guarded carefully. Yield to the Lord, who is more kin to you than your own parents. Yield to no other. Do not allow your faith to falter with every passing gust of wind. Your duty is to carry on your spiritual practices, undisturbed by what others may say, holding fast to the crucible of your own experience.
