On the fourth day of the Grama Seva a total population of 34,600 people in 6,300 households in Bukkapatnam mandal were covered.

The evening session, Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, the archetype assembly of the learned, featured three speeches and a scintillating musical offering by the students of Brindavan Campus of SSSIHL.

The session commenced with invocatory Veda chanting by the students of Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School. The first speaker for the session was Sri R Ganesan, an BBM student at the Muddenahalli Campus of SSSIHL. Speaking about mind and its vagaries, the wandering mind, Ganesan narrated his own experience with reference to his admission in the Institute that gave a boost to his confidence in his own self and faith in Bhagawan. Being in Bhagawan's Institute allows the student to grow spiritually helping to evolve training him to contemplate within, said the grateful student who spoke with great elan and confidence.

The next speaker Sri Sai Sathyanarayanan, a final year undergraduate student, began with a story on Selfless Love emphasising that God is a 4-letter word, L-O-V-E. Speaking about Grama Seva in brief, narrating a beautiful experience of a student's warm, loving spontaneous response to a 'self-styled' outcast who did not want the student to go near him, the young speaker highlighted how the Karma Yoga is helping students to evolve, blossoming them into worthy instruments in Sai mission. Narrating a beautiful incident from Mar 2011 illustrating the efficacy of selfless prayer, the young speaker concluded with a wonderful quote, "turn yourself to God and stay tuned to God."

The third speaker Miss Maitali Verma, a doctoral research scholar from the Anantapur Campus of SSSIHL spoke of the 10 commandments she learned from her 10 years at Bhagawan's Lotus Feet. Presenting a research-oriented thesis on Bhagawan's teachings, Bhagawan's messages or Sai's sayings, the speaker emphasised that one will be able to practise His teachings, the ten commandments if he/she three S's with him/her…that is SRI SATHYA SAI.

Bhagawan's Divine discourse followed next wherein Bhagawan emphasised on the importance of leading a life of character.
The final programme was a musical offering by the students of Brindavan Campus. Singing their hearts out to Beloved Swami, showing great commitment and dedication, blossoming talents from the Campus regaled the audience with their professional approach, receiving rounds of applause.

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan singing Om Shivaya…Om Shivaya… Mangala Arathi was offered at 1900 hrs. marking the end of the session.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
External cleanliness, devoid of internal cleanliness is nothing short of deceitfulness. Internal cleanliness is more essential than external cleanliness. Though a cup may be clean and attractive outside, we cannot drink water from it, if it is unclean inside. Food cooked in copper vessels turns poisonous, if the vessel does not have a silver coating inside. Hence, observe internal cleanliness with meticulous care. Strive to remain free from the diseases of hatred, bad thoughts and vicious practices. God has gifted you this human body for achieving excellence in your daily life and attaining proximity with Divinity. Cultivate spirituality, acquire spiritual traits, attain proximity to the Divine and merge in Him. This must be your firm resolve. You can achieve this by sanctifying your body with sacred actions, until your last breath.

Yesterday's thought
For a person living in the materialistic world, the sensual pleasures are a source of extreme delight. However, the senses themselves are temporary, and hence grant only transitory joy. To a person suffering from jaundice, everything looks yellow and tastes bitter. So too senses fraught with illness cannot give true happiness. As there is no person without desire, and it is difficult to live without desire in this world, Lord Krishna came out with an excellent solution. He said, "Perform all actions for the pleasure of the Lord without an eye on the fruits of the action." Pay your respect to duty and dedicate all actions to the Divine. Ensure you do all actions to the satisfaction of your conscience and then your heart is free from all blemishes. Such an action qualifies to become an act of Anapeksha, not tainted by desire.

Yesterday's thought
The supreme Shakti manifests Herself in the form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi. Durga grants us energy - physical, mental and spiritual. Lakshmi bestows on us wealth - not just money but intellectual wealth, the wealth of character, goodness and health. Health is also wealth! Saraswati bestows on us intelligence, the capacity for intellectual enquiry and the power of discrimination. Hence, Navaratri (nine-nights) festival is celebrated in order to proclaim to the world the power of the Divine Mother. One's own mother is the combination of all these Divine beings. She provides you with energy, wealth and intelligence. She constantly desires your advancement in life and hence represents all the three Goddesses. Recognising one's mother as the very embodiment of all divine forces, one must show reverence to her and treat her with love. This is the true message that the Navaratri festival gives us.

Yesterday's thought
Mantra means that which saves, when meditated upon. The Name of God, any one of His countless ones, can serve the purpose. The Name is like the goad that can tame the elephant in rut, make it bend its knees and lift the log on to its tusks. Liberation (Moksha) is not a five-star hotel, or a deluxe tourist home. It is just the awareness of your reality and the rejection of all contrary conceptions. You can recognise your Self quickly and clearly, if you purify your heart with a mantra or by the singing of the glory of God. Both will grant you that boon. Sing from the heart, conscious of the layers of meaning that each word has. These are the surest ways to have God firmly installed in the throne of your hearts and it will redeem your lives.
